Non-toxic night time skincare routine

Looking to make the switch to a non-toxic lifestyle and don’t know where to start? One of the easiest ways to lower your toxic load is to swap your skincare products.

Just a small disclaimer: I am not a skincare expert or esthetician—this is just what works for me and my skin. I tend to have combination skin, with it being more on the dry side, especially during winter.

I buy most of my clean skincare products from 100 Percent Pure. I’ve been using their products since 2014 when I stumbled into their brick and mortar store in London. So it’s pretty safe to say, I love and trust all of their products. There are also a few other brands I like to buy non-toxic products from, which I've listed below.

Here is my night time skincare routine:

Step 1: Cleanse

I cleanse and remove my makeup with 100% Pure’s Blood Orange Cleansing Balm. It’s a blend of antibacterial oils like avocado, coconut, and olive leaf and blood orange essential oil to help control oil buildup.

Step 2: Exfoliate

After I use the oil cleanser, I like to use 100% Pure’s Pore Detox Herbal Cleanser. This is a really gentle exfoliator, so you can use it pretty much every day. It contains dandelion and neem which help to naturally detox the skin. It smells amazing too!

Step 3: Clarify

After cleansing and exfoliating I use a natural astringent. I love 100% Pure’s Tea Tree & Willow Clarifying Astringent because it’s non-stripping and soothing on the skin. It contains witch hazel which helps balance oil production in the skin

Step 4: Serum

It’s always good to use an anti-aging serum before you apply your moisturizer or other oils.

My new obsession is MyChelle Dermaceuticals Remarkable Retinal Serum. This serum contains the most potent non-prescription form of Vitamin A and orange plant stem cells to promote healthy skin renewal and minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

I alternate between retinol and hyaluronic acid. I like MyChelle’s Ultra Hyaluronic Hydrating Serum. It’s a blend of hyaluronic acid and squalane, which helps to hydrate the skin.

Step 5: Moisturize/Oil

The last thing I layer is my moisturizer or oil. I am really loving 100% Pure’s Retinol Restorative Overnight Balm. It’s packed with vitamins and antioxidants to enhance your skin's natural glow and lessen the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I will also use just straight organic argan oil or rosehip oil if I want to change it up a bit.

Step 6: Wrinkle Patches

One thing I’ve also recently added to my nighttime routine is Toute Nuit’s Wrinkle Patches. These are basically pieces of medical tape shaped for your face to prevent your face from wrinkling during the night.

The patches are said to relax underlying facial muscles to flatten deep set wrinkles and smooth out fine lines with repeated use. I’ve been using them in between my eyebrows and around my mouth.

When you take them off there is a little bit of tape residue but you can easily remove it with an oil cleanser and water. I’ve definitely noticed a difference in the fine lines around my eyebrows. They can be a little annoying to put on when you are tired and ready for bed, but I’ll do anything to avoid having to get botox!

That’s it for my nighttime skincare routine. If you try this routine or any of the products, let me know what you think!
